Announces a new

SATURDAY HANDS-ON PROGRAM

 

When:  The second Saturday of the month, September to June, 9:00 a.m.– 11:00 a.m.

Who:  All students third to sixth grade

 

Scheduled Classes

September 11 – Slate Engraving – Participants will learn the process of engraving designs on slate by hand, using a coaster.  All students will take home a finished product.  Instructor:  Victoria Ross is the third-generation member of her family to engrave slate, learning the skills from her grandfather and father.

Cost:  $25.00 basic fee plus $5.00 materials fee. Maximum: 6

October 9 – Beginning Wheatweaving -  Wheatweaving is an ancient craft, weaving wheat into complicated designs.  Students will make a friendship ring, a Mordiford heart, and a flat braid loop.

Instructor:  Cheryl Statham is a decade’s long wheatweaver, and the retired Director of Education at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm.

Cost:  $25.00 basic fee plus $5.00 materials fee. Maximum: 10
