Our mission is to provide resources, referrals, and programs to empower families in need in the Bangor Area School District.
The Slater Family Network Foundation is a non-profit family center. Our service is free and confidential for all residents of the Bangor Area School District. We provide resources, referrals, and programs. SFN is grant, community, private and school district funded.

Backpack Buddies- Free food program for all BASD students K-grade 12 who are food insecure on the weekends. Non-perishable food and juice boxes are provided for students through grant from The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, other local churches, community members and SFN. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the 10-15 lb. packs of food will be placed in disposable bags. ALL bags are strictly parent or guardian contactless pick up at
the Slater Family Network offices located at the High School campus. The Program also runs in the summer months offering fresh organic vegetables from St. Luke’s Health Network. Please call the office ASAP to register and receive further

Free Mental Health Counseling - SFN is currently offering in-house counseling through a grant through Two Rivers Health and Wellness Foundation. Eligibility requirements are: No health insurance coverage, high deductible or co-pay. Please call our office for more information and availability.
Free Clothing Closet & Emergency Food Pantry- Did you know we have an on-site free clothing closet full of gently used Baby, children’s, teen and young adult clothing! With an abundance of baby clothes! We are run on donations and ask all donations to be clean and free of tears and stains. We only accept new socks, underwear, blankets and shoes. We also have an Emergency food pantry you can use to carry your family through to the next area full-service pantry day. If you need emergency food or are interested in receiving our area pantry list, please call our office.
Navigation Assistance- Do you need help filling out the complicated paperwork for Public connective services? We are here to help! We have a lot of application forms, can assist with your own forms, can assist online and fax-free of charge. We have assisted thousands of families get connected to SNAP, Medicaid, CHIP, Cash assistance, LIHEAP and so much more! Call for an appointment and discuss what you would need to bring with you.
Assistance is Available for Food, Clothing, *Partial Rent, *Utility Payments, Counseling Services, Holiday Gift Giving, faxing, and any paperwork/application assistance. *Select programs contain eligibility requirements to qualify
and have applications for entry. **We do not assist with field trips or extracurricular activities or sports. Please speak to the organization directly for assistance possibility.

SFN has a Mental Health Counseling grant for qualifying children age 5 and up and adults. The grant from Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation provides free, confidential counseling for eligible families. Please call us for details. Clients are seen in the Slater Family Network office by a licensed mental health counselor.

Emergency Food Pantry - For Slate Belt area residents (BASD and Pen Argyl School District). The pantry operates in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank. Families in need of food on an emergent basis may access the pantry. This is NOT a regular use food bank. Please call our office if you are in need of emergency food.
Children - We welcome children to accompany parents when visiting SFN but parents are SOLELY RESPONSIBLE to watch their children, keep them out of harm's way and be respectful to the SFN staff and offices.

Park in the lot and walk up the gravel driveway to the two trailers. Our office is in the trailer on the left. You may park in the spaces marked "Reserved." If you have ambulatory issues, please drive up near the trailers.
We are only accepting children's and teens clothing due to limited space
Please do not leave donated items on the porch if the office is closed. The Porch is not covered and items get ruined in the rain.
Space Limitations - Because of space limitations, we will be phasing out our adult clothes in the SFN Clothes Closet. If you would like to make an appointment to get some clothing please do so.
