Superintendent

Welcome from the Superintendent

I am honored to serve as Superintendent of Schools for the Bangor Area School District, a community that shaped my own educational journey and continues to guide my work. I began my career here as an elementary teacher and have since served in several leadership roles, including Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Human Resources, and Assistant to the Superintendent for District Operations. These experiences have deepened my understanding of our District and strengthened my commitment to our students, staff, and families.

Our mission is clear: to equip students to launch into a dynamic world and thrive. To carry out this mission, we are guided by our District vision, THRIVE, which prioritizes Tailored Learning, Holistic Development, Real World Opportunities, Inclusivity, Voice, and an Engaged Community. These priorities guide how we design learning experiences, support student growth, and prepare young people for success in school and beyond. They help ensure that every student is known, challenged, and supported in meaningful ways.

Bangor Area School District has a proud heritage of Slater Pride. My team and I are committed to building on that tradition while preparing the next generation of Slaters for success in an ever changing world. We do so by creating learning experiences that are relevant, supportive, and forward looking. Our staff is dedicated, highly skilled, and deeply invested in helping students grow, achieve, and discover their potential.

I believe the strength of a school district is found in its people. Students, staff, families, and community members each play an important role in creating an environment where learning and growth can flourish. I am committed to fostering a culture where individuals feel valued, connected, and empowered to contribute to our shared success.

Schools do not work in isolation, and strong partnerships between the District and families remain essential. I encourage parents and guardians to stay connected, ask questions, and communicate with us. Together, we will continue building a school district where every student is prepared to launch into a dynamic world and thrive.

 Sincerely,

Braden Hendershot, Ed.D.
