The Bangor Area School District located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, is rich with tradition and pride. While the district’s seven municipalities cover a large geographic area, the “small town” atmosphere is still evident at our extracurricular events and various community celebrations.

Our surrounding municipalities have a strong history of cultural diversity which continues to this day. From our early German farmers to the Cornish, Welsh and Italian immigrants, our community has made an indelible mark in the slate and apparel industries. The District Quarryman Mascot, known as the Slater, appropriately symbolizes an image of strength and determination, which is presently emulated in our student body. The pride of our immigrants and their associated accomplishments can be further appreciated at the Slate Belt Heritage Center and the Bangor Public Library, both located in the borough of Bangor.

The District’s rural setting abounds with opportunities to connect with nature, having the additional privilege of close access to the Delaware River, Pocono Mountain Skiing and Recreational Resorts, and the Appalachian Trail. The view of the Delaware Water Gap, from our main campus, is perhaps one of the best from any surrounding district. Located approximately 90 miles from New York City and Philadelphia, our residents also have a reasonable drive to many outstanding institutions of higher education, cultural centers, and professional sporting events located in the heart of the Lehigh Valley.

Our District is comprised of five schools, all of which offer a challenging curriculum based on academic standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  We are cohort-based meaning that all students in a single grade stay together throughout their educational career.
